Deeply Rooted

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;
that ye, being rooted and grounded in love

May be able to comprehend with all saints
what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

- Ephesians 3.17-19

The notion of being deeply rooted in God's word is one that stays in my mind. It sinks into my soul, and produces the nourishment I need to keep on the narrow path. It's good to be reminded that in all things, we can be rooted in Christ. No matter if we are cooking soup, walking a trail, helping at church, or typing away at work. In all things, we can be rooted in God's love.

For we will be refreshed and kept strong if we plant our roots by the living water. We shall bear fruit during all seasons, for we will be nourished all the time. Whether we feel like we are in a drought, or if we feel goodness is raining down, all shall be well.

We are not hopeless or lost if we stay deeply rooted. We know where we stand with eyes lifted up to the Holy One, and we don't have to waver like the others who do not choose to believe deeply.

The sun rises brightly. It is cool outside, a blessing in itself, for these autumn days don't contain the true autumn feeling yet. Let's look at this day ahead and think about how we can be rooted in God's love. We do not have to fully understand, but we can still dwell in it.
