This orange glow in the sky
illumines a giant half-translucent cloud
that sits on the tops of all trees
outside my window.
Amazingly bright
it somehow makes the blue sky bluer,
As if a child scribbled extra hard
with a crayon.
But as the orange hue is fading
A pink radiance shades all the clouds
and as the ground grows darker,
shadows fall quickly.
The clouds seem to dissipate into the
deepening night,
Like God is taking an eraser
to the clouds, creating a blank canvas
of sapphire sky.
