Selfless / Loveless

Wind-swept hike in Edinburgh, Scotland

It starts with a gentle wind
that grows swiftly into a fury,
ripping the heart and soul out
of an exposed refuge.
Still showing love beyond all measure,
for no reason we forsee.

Lacking worthiness yet receiving
all the love we don't deserve.
Through this selfless love
we can only find more
than our heart's desire.

A loveless face in the shadow stews,
angry that his gust did not ensue
in the corruption of the holy,
just, and pure. New attempts
will become another folly,
and truest love will always endure.
